Day 41 25/6/16 Tour of Arran continues

Day 41: Our Tour of Arran continues

We woke to yet another weather change!!! - back to sunny and reasonably warm!!
Unfortunately Mike was still unwell and both he, Ruth, Peter and Janet opted for a stay in day.  Noeline had made a 9.00 am appointment for her and Alan to visit the nearby hairdresser to freshen up their styles so
Dale and I decided to ride the bus once again and went into the next village, Whiting Bay.  This was mainly to visit the art gallery there as we had fallen in love with a couple of the bird prints in the hotel and wanted to see if we could get them in a suitcase friendly format. .We did.  Alan and Noeline turned up at the gallery soon after and the four of us went off to enjoy a cup of tea before returning to Lamlash.

Dale and Maritta waiting to get on the bus....

Couldn't resist capturing a picture of the "Frying Scotsman"....seriously!

Coming back into Lamlash

The weather remained sunny so we "aussies" (Alan, Noeline, Dale and Maritta) decided to visit the Arran Brewery  which unfortunately was a little disappointing however the nearby Brodick Castle was quite magnificent. The gardens were lovely and the castle interior was also grand and interesting although I didn't really appreciate the dozens of mounted stag heads in the entrance but I concede this was from a different time.  Unfortunately we are not permitted to photograph anything inside the castle.

Noeline looking to get a closer photo of the plants
Dale's not sure what it is but it is BIG!
Not sure what the yellow berry is but we didn't think we should try them - look like a yellow raspberry

Finally we get photos of Scottish Highland Cattle

Really uninterested in posing for the camera

After visiting the castle we returned to Lamlash and watched the end of the Iron Man competition that was taking place in front of our hotel.
Alan and Dale put up the hood on the 12/60 - it is forcast to "bucket down rain tomorrow..again!!

Arran "Milestone" beer can be a bit tricky to pour
We headed back to the hotel for a quiet pre dinner drink soaking up the sun while it was there.  We had been warned that tomorrow it will be wet, wet, wet yet again.  We had some packing to finish and then meet up with the rest of the group for dinner.

This was out last day on Arran but we agree that if possible we would visit again.  Unfortunately the group breaks up tomorrow with us going north to Fort William and everyone else going south to the Lakes District.
