Day 27 11/6/16 Rhiconich (Northern Scotland) to Plockton.

Day 27 Rhiconich to Plockton

We woke to an overcast day and after yesterdays sun this was a little disappointing!!  But there is hope for improvement.  I was up early and blogging in the dining room well before even the kitchen staff arrived.  The internet connections has been flaky to date so taking advantage.

This was the first place we struck "midgies" - nasty incredibly small biting insects.  A little like our sand flies.  After a quick breakfast we packed up and continuing south along the west coast through Scourie, Ledmore Junction, Dundonell, Kinlochewe, Sheildeig and Stromeferry to Plockton.

Panorama view of the west coast - magic....

McFritz at the wheel - not sure about his ability to see over the dashboard.

Wonderful villages dot the route south.

Coming into Ullapool - a lovely fishing village

We stopped for lunch in Ullapool.  A lovely seaside village, very popular during the summer season.  Following a visit by all the ladies on tour, this cafe wins the award for the tiniest narrowest loo ever!!  Not sure who could actually use it.  Fortunately there were 2 available. We had lovely homemade soup all round (except Dale - of course!)

McFritz enjoys the view.

Noeline with her new distinctive "beanie"

Noeline and McFritz share a common interest in head wear!!

Arriving in Plockton was interesting to say the least.  Our arrive not only caused a little stir - the busy single lane main street was hellish to get down.  Not only did cars stop to look we had trucks and buses trying to get past.  Our B&B was located down on the waterfront and we had no alternate access available!!

Getting down the main street of Plockton was a nightmare!

It was a delightful B&B right on the edge of the inlet and once we arrived parking the cars was a bit of a challenge but we managed although David did have to park the Firefly outside in the public parking area.

Car parking at the B&B

Small hiccup - the Speed 20 started to run very ordinarily, struggling up some of the hills about 10 miles outside Plockton but thanks to some assistance from Alan we traced it to running on only 4 of its 6 cylinders and found closed points, much happier after we gave it some more gap!

The view from our room.  Really hard to take but we managed!!
