Day 29 13/6/16 Plockton to Aberfeldy (Perthshire)

Day 29 Travel day Plockton to Aberfeldy in Perthshire

Woke this morning to a wonderful view across the bay. The mist was hanging low and the water was mirror still.

This morning we had to pack our cases/bags once again.  I am having considerable trouble getting the suitcase to close.
We all pack up to head off.  Noeline and Kay bid farewell

Theresa and Melinki bid us farewell.

Today’s journey takes us further south. We started out with a short stop in Duirnish where the Highland cattle usually wander around the village green.  Today - however they were considerably camera shy and disappeared behind some shedding in their back paddock..

Highland cattle disappear on seeing us arrive!  Camera shy.

The journey then took us onward through Dornie, Sheil Bridge, Invergarry, Spean Bridge, Dalwhinnie (where the road almost circles the distillery) then to The House of Bruar, a huge shopping complex in a series of buildings set up to depict a castle.  We stopped here for lunch and as we have made very good time we agreed to take an hour and a half to shop.

Somewhere around Sheil Bridge we came across a convoy of three wind turbine propeller arms with a full Police escort.

Wind turbine prop on the road
David and Kay managed to find themselves between the two leading Police cars with the rest of us behind the convoy. Motorists travelling in the other direction where somewhat confused by who was being escorted for a while. The prop arms where about 300 feet long, quite a problem around some of the bends.

Each prop is about 300 feet long!!
"Heavy" traffic!

Turning off the main road.

The tide is out....considerably!

The larger lorries can be intimidating

Not that we saw!!

Turning bridge - for canal traffic.

Amazing threatening skies - hoping the weather holds!

We passed Mike and Jan "a few times" along the way.  After Bruar it was about 25 Miles through Pitlockry to Aberfeldy where we will be staying for the next week.

The "A" roads are much better for our travels.

Arrive at Moness Resort in Aberfeldy
