Day 7 22/5/16 AOC Display Day

Day 7 AOC Display day and travel to Beach Hampton

Today was the AOC's Display Day and the last day of the 2016 IAW weekend. The day was a mixture of car displays, concourse judging and a driving test for the silly or non-faint hearted.

Alan and Dale were conscripted onto the concourse Judging team and hopefully provided some useful input. They seemed to enjoy the opportunity to get up close and personal with all the entered cars.
Concourse judging - a lot of poking and peeking going on!
Maritta and Noeline wandered around visiting the stalls (set up to occupy the ladies) and then we all watched the driving tests with considerable amusement.

Alan and I also had the opportunity to go for a ride in Trevor Hirst's 3.5L engined Firefly Special, - comments from the boys was "very impressive performance".

A really nice day with a great selection of Alvis's. We left before the end of presentations due to the distance to our over night stop and the threatening rain storm. We later discovered that the Speed 20 had been judged Best Car in the Field by the attendees, many thanks to David and Kay for making this possible.

The trip to Beach Hampton was pleasant - passing through brilliant little villages.  The Speed 20 appeared somewhat wider than most of the streets but we made it.

We arrived a little late to eat at the pub next door and instead caught 2 taxis into the village to eat.  Interestingly the cab fares were a little different for the same journey....go figure!!
