Day 5 20/5/16 Leicester to Wroxall Abbey near Warwick

Day 5 Travel from Leicester to International Alvis Weekend in Warwick.

Our Alvis trek begins.....

Waking to packing and planning the route, David the ever efficient leader and planner seated the navigators down for our first briefing.  Setting off a little after 10 am it was an interesting drive through the back roads.  Getting used to the roundabout protocols was taxing but it all quickly came back into memory.

Our destination was Wroxall Abbey near Warwick.  We travelled mainly along Fosse Way (an old Roman road which was once probably the straightest road in England but now is a little more convoluted.  The Hawthorn hedges are in full bloom and the fragrance is quite pleasant but competing is the rapeseed (canola) which is also in full bloom at the moment.

Lunch stop was at the cafe attached to Hilltop farm on Fosse Way near Coventry  The farm shop experience with all forms of local product available is much like our local farmers markets.  Full of traditional seasonal farm foods plus quirky crafts and knik-knaks.  I could get lost in them for considerable time.

The drive in the afternoon was magic.  Again the weather was sunny with a little cloud by the end of the day as we drove into the Abbey's grounds.
